GSE TEAM FROM DISTRICT 4710 IN BRAZIL VISITS STAFFORD

 

The Team Leader, Antonio Guirro is a manager and professor in business administration at the University of North Parana University. He is responsible for Quality Office of the University Hospital at the State University of Londrina. He is a past club president. His son is currently a Rotary Exchange student in Michigan. He and his wife are hosting a Rotary exchange student from Norway.

Next year his daughter plans to be a Rotary exchange student. 

 

Cintia Oda is a post-graduate coordinator and business teacher responsible for lesson planning, coordination and execution of extension projects, pedagogical projects, hiring professors and approval of courses.  

 

Karina Santos is a City Mayor’s Assistant in Ibaiti, a city of about 30,000. She is also attending law school.  

 

Marciljo Vieira is a teacher of philosophy and English. He is also regional education coordinator. Philosphy is a required course in Brazilian schools, but there are not enough teachers of philosophy.    

 

Wivian Sa is a psychologist and English teacher who works in human resources at a large agricultural company. She lives in Londrina which means Little London. The city was founded by English industrialists and now has over 500,000 residents.  

 

The team gave a wonderful presentation on their part of Brazil. Brazil is the world’s fifth largest country in both population and land mass. Sao Paolo is the world’s third largest city. Antonio’s discussion of Brazil’s successful alternative fuels program was especially interesting.
