The fourth Avenue of Service, International Service, describes the many programs and activities that Rotarians undertake to advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace. International service projects are designed to meet humanitarian needs of people in many lands. When a Rotarian understands and travels down the four Avenues of Service, the Object of Rotary takes on even greater meaning.

An important Rotary International activity is the Rotary Youth Exchange which has enabled high school students to study abroad while staying I the homes of Rotarians. This program has been active for 77 years.

Some of our International Service projects are to provide civilian sponsors for the international officers attending the Command and Staff College at Quantico and to provide tuition for  boarding school students in Nigeria.

Our newest international project is giving assistance to the people of Siete de Abril, a village of refugees outside of El Progresso, Honduras. A team of Rotarians and Rotaractors from the University of Mary Washington repaired homes and helped students at two orphanages.
